Dianne's and Mirjam's Story

Together with my closest friend Mirjam, we talked a lot on the phone about that. She's also a huge fan of him and together we run the Brett Climo forum. We both tried to get his attention by sending him a special Birthday card last year with our picture on it and had sent it to his agency address. But unfortunately no response. A few months later his agency had let me know that they were not able to send his fanmail onto him anymore. So sending any snail mail or email had no point anymore! Now what?? Give up?? No never! And that's when 'mission impossible' began!

Around the same time his agency was starting to be a problem I had some contact with the director, David Blake, of Brett's latest movie Lost and Found. From the beginning the contact was very friendly and that's why at some point I told him about 'the problem' with the agency and if he could maybe help us out in some way. He wanted to, so that's when he sent some emails on from me to Brett. In those emails I told Brett about this site and that I was hoping he would want to take a look sometimes and maybe even let me know what he thinks about it all. But again no response. Also tried to send him an online interview, but … yeah you guessed it… no response.

Luckily David was kind enough to answer the questions in his interview I had sent to him, so I was kinda happy with getting at least that result! Around April of this year I got the message from David that they had finally set a date for the premiere of the movie Lost and Found. It was going to be on April 27th 2006. Because it was not possible for me to see the movie in Australia I wanted to know when the movie would be released to DVD. He then told me that it would be 4 to 6 weeks after the release in the cinema. Then I thought of something… why not ask him if he could manage to get me and 2 other friends a signed copy of the film? At first I wasn't sure I could ask it, but then I thought….can't hurt to just ask. So I did and his answer was very clear: 'No problem!'

I couldn't believe it! Was he serious? Was he really going to do that for me? And for my friends Mirjam and Liz? When I told Mirjam this she got very excited and said that we should find a way to thank David for all his trouble. But also we wanted to thank Brett too for all his great work as an actor and to get the chance to tell him about the site and forum. And that's when Mirjam came up with a great idea. Why not make a video message for Brett where we would tell him all that in person?! We just needed to know if we could send it to David then so that he could pass it on. So again I've asked him for his help and again he wouldn't mind doing that for us.

Then the real fun began! Making the video… First we came up with a script of all the stuff we wanted to tell. But because Mirjam and I live to far away from each other we had to make it apart from each other. And the idea of that made it real funny. Knowing that the other person is sitting down in front off a digital camera trying to record herself… that idea just made us laugh even when we were not together. So we had quite some fun. Also seeing yourself back again!!! :)))
After recording ourselves, Mirjam had sent her piece to me by email and I made the video message for Brett. We also made an interview with questions for Brett to answer them and we both wrote a personal letter for him. Then I also bought Dutch candy for Brett and off course also for David to thank him. I carefully packed it all in in one big box and posted it to the address David had given me. Then the waiting began!

After 3 weeks or so David had finally let me know that the package arrived and he was very pleased with our gifts for him. But he couldn't give the rest to Brett because he was out of the country at that time. So again we had to wait until we would hear when David and Brett would get together. But finally David emailed me one day that in the week to come they would get together. He also asked me to give the names of the people for who I wanted to give an autograph of Brett. And like I said before, besides myself and Mirjam, I also wanted to give Liz an autograph as well. She had done so much to help expand the site with fantastic articles of Brett and she also became a good friend. So I emailed our names back to him and again the waiting began!

He didn't say which day they would meet, so almost for a whole week we were nervous and excited as well. Waiting patiently, which was hard, till he would email again. When he did, the day after his meeting with Brett. And he told me that Brett very much appreciated the gift "Thank them so much for me" he had said to David. You can imagine that I had to read those words a few times to let it all sink in. Brett had now our gifts and was going to watch our video message at some point. Exciting idea!! David also asked for my personal address because he had something for me. Off course I emailed my address straight away and again the waiting began!!! This time even more curious and nervous about what I was going to get.

More then 2 weeks later, on a Monday, the postman delivered a big envelope from Australia. I came to an agreement with Mirjam that when our gifts would arrive I would call Mirjam to share that special moment with her. So there I was on the couch with my mobile phone in one hand and the envelope in the other. I first text Mirjam to see if she had time to call, unfortunately she was not alone at the time. So she said I had to open it and let her know what was in it. And I did… couldn't believe my own eyes when I saw what was in it. Three personal signed dvd's of the movie Lost and Found, signed by BRETT!!! And also a few signed flyers. I think I stared at it all for a few seconds then a very big smile on my face appeared. A smile that lasted all day long! I told Mirjam what was in it and she was surprised but happy as well. When she was alone she immediately called me and we shared our happiness together.
Also I emailed Liz with the big and exciting news. She was thrilled of course and was in a good mood for the rest of the week. She wasn't the only one! The three of us are very happy… can you blame us? ;)
